CAD CAM / Digital Dentistry

The CAD/CAM system uses computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing technology to fabricate porcelain and composite inlays, onlays, crowns, and veneers — all within a single visit.

1.

We scan your teeth in our clinic using a CAD/CAM intraoral scanner.

2.

The 3D scan is sent electronically to our dental laboratory.

3.

The laboratory uses the 3D scan to design your crown using specialized software and manufactures it immediately.

4.

Your dentist places and cements your new crown.

Advantages of Choosing CAD/CAM Dentistry

1. Single-Visit Dental Care

Most restorative procedures such as crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays require multiple visits. With CAD/CAM technology, the entire process from scanning to placement can be completed in one appointment, saving you time and inconvenience.

2. High-Quality Dental Materials

With CAD CAM, our dentists can use strong, tooth-coloured ceramic materials to restore teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure, providing a better restoration.

3. Digital Impressions

Traditionally, dental impressions were taken using moulds, which could lead to:

  • Expansion or contraction of materials
  • Bubbles, pulls, or distortions
  • Fragile stone models
  • Patient discomfort

With CAD/CAM intraoral scanning, these issues are eliminated. The dentist captures a precise 3D digital impression of your teeth in real time. If any errors are detected, adjustments can be made instantly, ensuring maximum accuracy and comfort. At the dental laboratory, these digital impressions are transmitted directly to milling machines, producing restorations that are both highly accurate and beautifully aesthetic.

4. Smile Enhancement

CAD/CAM technology can be used for more than just crowns and fillings. It enables the creation of aesthetic restorations such as porcelain veneers and anterior crowns to repair chipped, discoloured, or misshapen teeth, giving you a natural and confident smile.

5. In-House Ceramist

We have an in-house ceramic technician who works closely with our dentists in designing and fabricating CAD/CAM restorations. This collaboration ensures that each restoration achieves the best form, fit, and aesthetics for every patient

6. Inlays and Onlays

Sometimes, a cavity can be too large to be restored with a simple filling, yet not severe enough to require a full crown. In such cases, inlays and onlays offer an ideal solution by restoring only the affected portion of the tooth.

We believe in preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible. That is why we employ the latest CAD/CAM technology to deliver precise, conservative, and highly aesthetic restorations.

  • Inlays and onlays are ceramic inserts that are significantly stronger than traditional fillings. Only the decayed portion of the tooth is removed. After cleaning the cavity, the dentist scans the affected tooth and its neighbouring teeth — a process known as a digital impression. The inlay or onlay is then digitally designed, milled from a solid ceramic block, hardened in an oven, and polished to a high shine before being precisely cemented onto the tooth.
